It&#8217;s essentially a hardware refresh for Apple&#8217;s<a style=\"outline: none; text-decoration: none; color: #00bdf6;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.engadget.com\/2012\/03\/16\/apple-ipad-review-2012\/\">\u00a03rd gen slate<\/a>, as it packs new A6X silicon with quad-core graphics that the company claims provides double the performance of the old A5X chip. The new iPad also gets dual-band 802.11 a\/b\/g\/n WiFi, expanded LTE compatibility (including<a style=\"outline: none; text-decoration: none; color: #00bdf6;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.engadget.com\/tag\/sprint\">Sprint<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a style=\"outline: none; text-decoration: none; color: #00bdf6;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.engadget.com\/tag\/kddi\">KDDI<\/a>), a 720p FaceTime camera on the front and the new image processor first seen in the<a style=\"outline: none; text-decoration: none; color: #00bdf6;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.engadget.com\/2012\/09\/18\/apple-iphone-5-review\/\">iPhone 5<\/a>. Of course, it also gets the reversible\u00a0<a style=\"outline: none; text-decoration: none; color: #00bdf6;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.engadget.com\/2012\/09\/12\/apple-details-new-dock-connector-its-called-lightning\/\">Lightning port<\/a>\u00a0that debuted on on the iPhone, and will be available in both black and white. Pricing stays the same as its predecessor, with a 16GB WiFi version for $499 and a 16GB model with cellular data on board costs $629. Interested?
